I was wondering if we could have another music competition, maybe this time more complicated and with a certain theme.
Genre, Bands, techniques, um what do you call...80's or whatever that kind of stuff. Just where a certain topic/genre/theme etc is allocated to the competition, if we have another one that is.

e.g

Genre: Rock

Theme: Love Songs

Instrument: Guitar

Time: 80's

Name of song:__________

List of what you used:(like if you used a backup track or something like that)

If that is too complicated then I would just think a classic karaoke would be nice Listen to everyone sing!

Maybe of some classics like ABBA or something, works exactly like the music competition just less things need.

I ain't entirely sure if it's too soon for another competition or if the mods who are suppose to run it are to busy around this time. Also it relies on the amount of interest shown by ec members, last music competition was pretty healthy with contestants.


Also I think for the art section we should have a contest on graphic design skills, hand drawn if you don't mind.

This might be a bit complicated but I was thinking that all the people who wanted to participate in this event (if it's approved) that they pm the mod in charge a message containing this.

Company: (name)

What is does: (purpose retail)

Colours: (list of colours you would like your designer to use)

Objects: (objects you might want to be used in your logo)

and then the mod can allocate the different thingys to different people, I think it would be an interesting way to see peoples creativity and originality. Even if the art section doesn't get alot of attention there are some really good talent out there. Like Finality, Reflection, that dude that did the manga ( can't remember his name sorry), Dynamite and anything else that comes to mind.

I am not going to post this in the FAQ and Suggestion because it is a request..not something that mentions there is a problem with ec or something should be fixed. Also it would be good for general discussion

It is a suggestion, therefore it belongs in FAQ + Suggestions. That area is not for "there's a problem - fix it please", it's for all suggestions relating to EC. General discussion on the idea isn't exactly prohibited there either, if anything, it'll prove whether people are interested? 

As for the competition, it's up to the music sub-mod and sentient whether they'll want to run it (and give the titles), etc. We did only just recently have a music competition though, and the thing with ec is, if you run competitions too regularly, people get bored and stop getting involved. Maybe in a few weeks? 


I do really like the art idea one. Sentients photoshop contests did gradually have less and less involvement though, and the proportion of art in there is quite small. But anything to encourage the section and the artists, sure, why not. Would like to hear Finalitys thoughts on that one, it's her section really.

Yeah, I can run that art competition. Sorry I've been slacking lately guys, had a lot to do, between writing speeches, leadership training, helping to run retreats...that sort of thing, it's been mad. And my internet's playing up. I'm completely free of obligations as of an hour ago, though.

OP, an idea for that competition would be to use existing company names, themed ones, like volkswagen, toyota, opel, seat...and have people design logos. That way they're easier to compare as they're all, ultimately, logos for car companies. I don't know about getting people to suggest things, I can see that going horribly wrong...and maybe we could have one colour scheme for everyone involved, to make it really fair.

I don't think this is the best idea.

You're bound to get a LOT less participation if you limit the music they can enter, and as the other competition didn't get that much entries in the first place, this will basically be a four person contest at the most.

I'm all for another music competition, but I just don't like the idea of limiting it to certain genres.
